So why not just feed protein? Doesn’t it get moldy with the rain?

It gets fed in addition to protein pellets for us. It's high in protein and cheaper than pellets. It is also a filler that can cut cost while giving your deer herd more supplemental options.

We have 4 v-mesh feeders in each of the 8 protein pellet feeders

Not many cotton fields in North Texas area. Its for protein feeding.

Several cotton fields in my area this year, but not every year. Guess they rotate up here.
How do you acquire it, when they harvest?

Head to the gin around December, ask for cotton seed to purchase.
