We went to Italy and Slovenia during Christmas 2 years ago. Slovenia’s countryside is very beautiful. Ljubljana is a cool city, there is a pretty river that goes through the middle of it and we did a quick little boat trip (similar to San Antonio) while there. We spent a day at the Postojna caves. I really liked it. Part of the tour besides the cave is a castle built into a mountain and it was really neat.

You’re gonna love Slovenia. The karst topography is all limestone like the hill country but with mountains and forests. We liked staying at air bnbs at working farms in the countryside and hiking in the mountains. There is a guy named Robert on the edge on lake bled who runs a 3D archery range, dressed up in medieval gear. Don’t be afraid to eat the horse goulash.
