Great recipe. I used chicken stock instead of water and then used chicken bullion in place of salt. Great flavor

I asked my Mom where to get a clay bean pot (like the one she used when I was little) - her response was, "What have you been smoking?" I told her back in the 80's she had one at home. Funny the things we remember from growing up.
I can't wait to make these beans. I added it to my smoker book. |

Making some today. How much of that stinking goat feed do you throw in? I bought a bunch big enough to last
me for a lifetime and it cost twenty three cents! |

I'm still looking, there's some out there I've seen on line, kinda expensive. A lady here at the sawmill, says she can get them. Said hers take high heat on a burner and on the oven. We will see.

I bought a bean pot from goodwill actually and it works great. www.shopgoodwill.com is their site for online auction type sells. I have used it for everything from crystal decanters ($10) to Lucchese ostrich boots ($47). They currently have 6 or 7 bean pots on there, but they arent really big.

Man that is cool! Thanks for sharing the link to the bean pots, may have to make a purchase when I get home.
I had these beans for lunch, one of my buddies had a taste. He is sold! He is begging for the recipe! This batch turned out great, absolutely perfect. I am swole up from eating beans and a dozen corn tortillas. ![]() |

One more question PBF - My whole house STILL smells like beans! I mean, they smell great, but I'm surprised it's still lingering this long. How long can we expect this to last? It makes me feel hungry constantly!

Love me some borracho beans.
If you dont have 3 hours to devote to these, a pressure cooker will get you there in well under an hour. Cook on high pressure for around 22-25 minutes, then cool via quick release. Makes these a viable weeknight option if you dont have much time. If you planned ahead and soaked your beans, you only need 4-6 minutes cooking time at high pressure. I am always amazed at what pressure cookers can do. |
