    Security guards are NOT authorities.
He was assaulted the second they laid their hands on him.

He was let back on the plane. They were at fault.
they will be found at fault.
He will get a settlement....a large one.
There appears to be conflicting information. The Chicago local news is reporting that it wasn't a "security guard" but in fact a "Chicago Aviation Police Officer."

A Chicago Aviation Department police officer was placed on leave Monday, after dragged a United Airlines passenger off an overbooked flight.

It is VERY different. It is like hotel management coming to your room and saying, "We have housekeeping staff that needs this room tonight. You just volunteered to leave." No Sir. As a paying customer, you cannot be hauled off a plane. Even if he were calm, collected and politely refused to vacate his seat, they would have forcibly removed him. That's the crux of the matter and it is wrong. He broke no laws thus, he should not have been manhandled.

Have you ever heard the phrase, "Lack of planning and preparation on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine."? This is the classic example of that. Well, short of the guy snatched loose of his seat.

Scary how many people take their commands so well. No wonder our government is so out of control with power. "It does what its told"!

I would add, regardless of whether or not these guys were LEO's (and I used to be one) they never had the right to assault the man.

I'm pretty sure he broke federal law by not complying with flight crew instructions, although there could be some gray area there.

Fault does not lie with police.

The "idiot" is about to get paid.
