I'd let him roll unless you really like him this yr. He could Come out of it and still Clean up at 7.5. Good Luck on what ever you Decide.

I heard in wet years from a biologist that there is a certain plant deer will eat that can negatively effect a deers horns as well. But they will return to normal. Tadd, who hunted across the street from y'all and then again on a place off 16 close to freer, had one grow two big knobs one year and then go back to normal. We had the same thing a few years back on our place.

Ok, but he may straighten out and be normal next year.
He has all the feed that he needs, right?
I would let him go and see what he does next year. You might be surprised or you might be disappointed.
It is always a gamble on deer.

Thats a tough one to try to even score, very odd how his configuration just changed like that. Must have had some kind of injury is the only thing I can think of.

Me too. I will be back down there the last weekend of Sept. Most of our bucks rub out end of Sept. or early Oct. Hopefully I get lucky and he has rubbed out. Wouldn't hurt my feelings if he added a few more inches before then.

I have bucks that do this every year. All of them except one have returned to normal in later years. We have a buck that was a 160"+ in '14, '15 and '16. Last year he dropped to a 110 cull. This year he's pushing 170'w/16pts and 4.5" of rain ytd on Sept 5.

I think they get injured or sick. We also find an occasional shed with a piece of skull on it....

The hunt is over for this buck. He made a mistake Friday evening and I made him pay.
