But Iíll take it as a consolation prize.

My #1 buck was a no show all weekend. #2 showed up yesterday morning about 8am. Heís a little 3.5yr old 8 thats the only other buck over 2.5 Iíve seen on camera. I decided to let him walk. Then watched him for 5 minutes and decided since I only had two days to hunt, I was going to shoot him. Put my hand on the release and the wind swirled and everything left.

Sat yesterday evening and almost sweated to death. Had an axis button buck come in to 40 yards or so, and then started eating cedar/juniper berries and melted into the trees.

This morning was all does, yearlings, and two little 1.5yr old bucks. Looked up and she was heading my way. There was an older doe with a prettier hide out there too, but this one was at 16 yards and not 80. My arrow was 45 yards from where I shot her and she only made it 50. Almost shot her a hair too high. Got both lungs and her trachea, but much higher and might have spined her.

Shot her with a Grizzlystick Redline 125 XL. The shot was about 16-17 yards. Deer made it a lazered 52 from the shot, arrow went about 5 yards shy of that. I was 12í up a tripod, so Iím sure it skipped at least once to make it there. Blade got pretty chinked up and the tip curled thanks to the Hill Country ground, so I canít say how they hold an edge through an animal. It might have been fine until it hit rocks, but obviously thereís no way of knowing now. Might be able to get it good again with a file. The arrow got a few gouges in it too, so itís going onto the wall of fame.
