Can Am Defender & Thanks to Justin Spies

I’d like to give a shoutout to TBH member, Justin Spies, for selling me this rig from East Texas Powersports. I contacted him on here and the transaction went very well. He answered any question I had and was easy to deal with. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy from him again. And for the record, the price was better than Hoffpauirs. I know that’s a popular name around here but let Justin quote you something if you’re interested.

As for the Defender... I love it. I picked this up on Saturday and don’t have much seat time yet. But I’m coming from a Polaris Sportsman 500 and Kubota RTV 500 (neither with power steering). I decided to go with an HD8 XT model. For the little amount of time that I have used it, it’s going to be a solid machine. Quiet, good power, comfortable and there’s a lot of storage.

I’ve ridden or used several Rangers and wouldn’t purchase one over this. The small Kubota isn’t in the same class.

I’ll be putting a light bar on the front and two four inch squares on the back. What have y’all done for a dome light and a gun rack? What other accessories have y’all found to be useful on your SXS?

    Only pic I took.

Agree. Bought my son a 4 wheeler for Christmas from Justin. Great buying experience for sure.

Love them. I was worried they’d be too stiff, but the ride is much better than factory. It’s more firm and planted. Feels much better. The only complaint is it’s slightly more top heavy in fast turns, but the ride over everything else is so much better that it negates it.

I have a 2017 hd8 xt max. Great ride so far. There is a Facebook page that is worth joining. Tons of information there. As for extras, I have added front and rear windows, front and rear bumpers, 50" curved light bar, 22" light bar, cubes in the back and to the sides, USB port, cigarette lighter, and rock lights. I use the rock lights as my dome lights and highly recommend them.

              Enjoy!

Great Machine. What I've done so far. (Just got it in July)
                  Roof
                  windshields (front& rear)
Soft doors (Pricey but worth it in the winter, being in it everyday)
                  Light bar (no pic)
                  dome light (sm. magnet)
led reverse light (fits in Battle Armour roof)

gun racks under the middle flip-up seat

Also added sticky backed foam insulation to reduce some of the radiant heat that the coolant lines cause. They run under the floor panel, and the fan is a "suck-fan" and heats up the firewall so I stuck some where it heats up behind the pass. front tire.

I really like what you did with the gun racks under the seat. I’ll probably be copying that idea.

Can Am Defender & Thanks to Justin Spies

First mod was the light bar. I found some brackets on eBay that mount to the roll cage so that I didn’t have to drill into anything. I ran the wire through the cage. Next mod will probably be a windshield of some sort.

I’ve probably got 15 hours on it now. This machine is very nice and I still love it so far. If you’re looking for a new SXS please consider the CanAm Defender.
