      That’s cool.

Don’t let the cancel culture read all that though.

There would be some proposed name changes for sure.

There's a book called The 254: How Texas Counties Got Their Names

I've been trying to get ahold of it but don't want to buy. Every man or woman that has a county named after them has an awesome story behind them.

Texas History Hidden in Every Map You can read the history of Texas just by looking at a map of our state...if you know what to look for. It's all in the counties...and how they got their names. Think of the Land as a Giant Canvas The names of the counties are history filled brushstrokes painted across it.There are the

A quick summary after I looked over the list.

Most were named for men that fought and or died in the Texas war of Independence or were early officials or founders of the Government of the Nation of Texas.

Some were named for land features including rivers.

28 were named for Soldiers or government officials of the Confederacy.
Including 8 Confederate generals, and the President and vice-president of the Confederacy.

Some were named for slave owners including the father of Texas, Stephen F. Austin

Thanks, that's the best price I've seen so far.

I quit buying books after college but I did just put in a purchase request with our local public library.

An interesting read. The "Culture Vultures" would probably love to change several of the county names.
