This is not a huge deal, but I have always been hit or miss on cooking rice. It never came out consistently good until I found this recipe. With Tex Cattleman's Crock Pot recipe and so many other "Stew" type recipes on the site, I thought this might help you TBH'ers impress your wives (or husbands). It comes out perfect every time. Give it a try...
J.P.
2 Cups Basmati Rice (or any long grain rice)
3 Cups of Cold Water
1 Tsp Butter (or Olive Oil)
½ Tsp Salt
Pour Rice, Butter and Salt into a Heavy-Gauge Pot
Add exactly 3 Cups of Cold Water
Give it a quick stir
Turn on High Heat until it just starts to boil
Give it one quick stir and turn the heat to low
Cover and set timer for exactly 20 minutes
Do not open lid or do anything while it is cooking
At 20 minutes, turn the heat off and lift lid for 3 seconds and re-cover.
Set timer for 5 minutes and let the pot sit to finish the cooking.
When timer goes off, remove lid and gently fluff to stop cooking process
Enjoy perfectly cooked rice!
