Currently a I carry a 18-200 but the F stops are not great on it. Works fine in the bow blind but if rifle hunting long shots at dusk/dawn are a no go. Aperture won’t let in enough light.

I also carry an old school fixed 300mm/F4.0. It’s better but I really want to find a good zoom with f2.8 or lower. But they are pricey.

This is on a Nikon D7000 body.

For photography, I have carried my 70-200 f2.8, 300 f4 and 150-600mm. The Sigma 150-600 is great if you have enough light.

It depends on a lot of things. Budget, bow/rifle blind, etc.

For the money, the 150-600 is really hard to beat for its versatility.

Did you go with the sport or contemporary model on the Sigma? Trying to decide if the cost difference is worth it to me.

If you're looking for a Sport, I may be selling mine shortly for Canon mounts.

I have the contemporary and probably could not justify the extra expense for the sports.

Here are some pics from that lens taken at between 30-60 yards, and cropped.

This one is with the 150-600mm at 600mm and about 400 yards away. it has been cropped as well. It was taken from the truck, not the stand, but you get the idea

                      Dang Casey those are sharp.

                      I have a 70-300 Tamron F4 (I think) that I've been using

Ill post a pic when I get home of a couple of pics I've taken with my lens from the stand.

Here is a pic I took from about 30 yards away

Wow that looks nothing like the actual pic. Trying something different.

edit: Picture was terribly distorted. will repost if I can figure how to post a high quality pic.
