It is when you and your group can start at anytime between a given time frame. As opposed to a shotgun start where everyone starts at the same time.

Think that is where everyone just sits around and whines about having to start and trys to get someone else to do it for them.

We did a shotgun start at the shoot today. There were 30 stations - everyone just picked a station and they blew the horn...

Then you went around the course until you shot all the stations?

Default shotgun start

YES, that is how a Shotgun start works. If you have a faster shooting group you let them shoot through. It makes it good with a cut off time for the scores to be in by.
