Default How much to pay for help

YWhat do y'all think is a fair rate to pay for some help at the lease/hunting property? Maybe 2 days worth.

Help will be basic labor stuff, stacking old building mats, piling trash, stacking cut tree lims ect. Nothing a teenager can't to and NO skills needed. I provide all food, drink, beer, bbq and everything.

We used to do this in Rocksprings and paid them $10/hr, fed them and provided the beer toward the end of the day.

Trade out a hunt with somebody? Lots of folks looking for a lease. But I'd say 12-15 is fair rate if they work more than they talk/take breaks.

I usually don't pay less than $12/hr for labor jobs. That's what we always paid unskilled high school kids at the shop.

Unskilled labor with meals provided, $12 per hour is fair. If they're worth a crap, $15 per hour and I would tell them that up front.

That is vague as it is 8 hours a day or 12 hours a day or is it cash under the table or thru W2 forms?

That would be easiest but trying to schedule that is kinda a pain. We try to usually only go out on weekdays. Most ppl can't swing the weekday hunts. Maybe I can pay them and if we can get a hunt or 2 in they can repay me, kinda like a deposit.

Thanks for the ideas on rates so far. Sounds fair enough.

I'd say $10/hr plus beer and food is more than fair. Hell I've helped many a guys on a lease for just beer & food. I'd be ecstatic to get some cash out of the deal too.

Ran some fence for a bud last year. He brought me a 30 pack, gave me access to his ranch house, and said have at em. Killed a few hogs that night, and I was allowed to kill any deer I wanted. I didn't do that though, as I respect their management efforts too much. I just watched. May take a doe this next year if he needs some more fence help though.

100 a day is fair. Trading hunts may end up causing an issue.

So why do ppl fight McDonald's buffet flippers getting paid $100 per day?

It is the same No skill needed brainless work.

Digging ditches & piling trash takes a much brain power as flipping burgers & shaking salt on fries

Nice try on a spin. The difference is the government isn't trying to meddle where they don't belong like they would with minimum wage. Price for work should be agreed solely between the individuals with the government staying the hell out.

I always ask myself what I would charge someone to do that same job. Then I do it myself since I would not pay that dang much money to someone to do that same job for me.

Lol, for real.

Thing is I don't have that many hands and buddy the owns the land is a (1 man army). Meaning he only gets the minimum done to keep going every year. Can't hardly get anyone to help but come november-december he gets real popular.

Where is it at? And when are you looking for help? If I'm available, I'd be willing to help if we can set my wife up to shoot a couple doe with her bow.

Other than that, I'm in the $100 a day crowd.

1) I pay most help $100/day. Good help gets $125 for a hard day.
2) About 99% of that difference is work ethic.

This. It will amaze you how little someone can work and act like they worked a 23 hour shift that made you a million dollar profit.

I would say around $15 an hour but it just depends on the persons work ethic, I help a lady out on her ranch and she paid the guy before me $10 and I told her no and she saw me work for the first day and she is more than happy to pay $15 an hour, but thats just for general work if im clearing fence line and stuff I charge her $20 because im using all my equipment. Where are you looking to do all this work at if its close by me I would be interested.

Air conditioned burger flipping is far less labor than 90*+ lease work. Plus leave it to the employer to set the wage. If the employee doesn't like it then they don't have to do it.

If you're buying the beer I'd help for free, and I'd even help shoot pigs lol.

But seriously 10 an hour should be good, especially since you're supplying food and drink.

I pay my helpers about $30 per hour, but I only use them maybe 2-3 times per month for for 1-2 hours per day. I pay this rate because I want them to help at a spur of the moment. I don't always know when I'm going to need help until the day of.
