    Redneck Air Conditioner

Tested it out at kid's swim meet yesterday; it works pretty well but it wasn't quite as cold as I would like. I only used one bag of ice, and it wasn't in an enclosed area. Still, I think it would work pretty well in either a box blind or a popup. The fan is super quiet, and it was cheap. I had it pretty sealed up with glue and caulk, but ended up taping it because it wasn't quite dry and it was going to rain.

    Cooler: $9
    Fan: $8
    Dryer vent: $2
    1 bag of ice: $2

I would have liked to see a carry handle fashioned from duct tape too. That would have completed the effort. Looks quite good to me though. Nice work!

Is that a leg or back in the picture? Either one with that kind of fur coat I can see why you need this.

Exactly. Next time I'll add two bags of ice.

Does the fan run on batteries?

I think it's 4 AAs. I went with a smaller fan to minimize noise.

Ran with your idea, we participate in a farmers market every Sunday and it gets warm. Set it up next to us on a bucket for my wife and daughter. Even Lily jumped in on the action. I plug it into the power point of the truck and have notebook solar panel wired to the battery on the dash. Ran it for 4 hours and cooled great. Thanks for the direction on the idea.
