Do yall find the crappie can get lock jaw this time of year? I fish jigs exclusively and I have a really hard time getting on a good bite around the brush piles in July and August. Maybe it is just me not doing the right things.

Hot summertime and winter I like to have some minnows on board. Several piles yesterday were loaded but only could catch a few active fish before they quit biting. Minnows would have pulled a few more out at each spot IMO.

Sounds like it might not be me then. The lake I fish doesnt have any bait places close by(as in 30 miles) and it is really difficult keeping minnows alive in the summer anyway. I can beat out a decent box of fish with the jigs if I stay at it but I guess Im not that mad at them anymore. I think Im lazy and just enjoy pulling up to a brush pile and getting into the fish or move on to the next one if they arent biting.

Fished an hour and a half before the storms ran us off the lake. Bad part. Didn't get to fish long. Good part caught some decent fish and hopefully figured out how to keep em alive all day. Threw 8 in one side of the livewell and cleaned em at 330 and every one was flipping like we just pulled em out the lake!! Happy about that!

Last trip to Toledo.
The calm winds today would make it easy to fish the deep water tops today.

Keep that trigger finger warm!

Is it just the pic? Or is that white missing upper part of it's tail?

Pretty black crappie.

Missing half of it! IDK how that happens but catch em like that pretty often. The small ones I blame it on getting their buddies to chew their tail off to get below 10"! This one I have no idea!

kept 8 fish alive all morning though. Threw em all back there at the ramp and they took off fine! Hopefully fish a couple more times and get a game plan together for Fork. This lake gives me fits for catching a big stringer. Always has...

Fork is in the books! Stuck to the plan and it worked pretty good. Fish weren't as shallow as they were last weekend and took us a little while to adjust. Boated lots of fish but big fish were hard to find. Fork is my nemesis so I'm happy with 5th here. Beat some dang good timber fisherman today. I will get it figured out soon enough!! Cleaned 35 and threw back anything we had to measure. Caught a mess of ditch pickles and a couple big cats too.

Take cover LOP slabs! Your next!!

Lots of stuff will work! It's location more than the bait! That said. Black and chart and white and chartreuse Bonehead stump bugs have been good last 2 weeks on Fork. Idk why they wouldn't work down there.

Hummingbirds Helix 9 main 5 on the bow, Minn kota ultrex trolling motor. Having issue with trolling motor switching to the foot pedal from the stay on way point. Works with the remote but not with the pedal.

Pay the man!!! Fished Crappie Fishing Fools today on Cedar Creek! Tough day! We finished 3rd out of 42 teams but they had a seperate kids division and little man won it! They weighted in 5. He had those by 915 and took a nap! $155 to fish a couple hours, eat snacks, and take a nap!! Pretty good payday for a 7 year old!!!

Anyone ever fish Lake Belton? Hit them early on in the spring when they were shallow, and have a kayak now to get a little deeper, but just don't know where they are this time of year.
