Default Wide brim cowboy hats?

Who wears wide brim straw cowboy hats outside for work or yardwork? How they do with sun protection and handle the high winds?

I wear one almost 100% of the time when working outdoors. Wind can be a pain especially one from the back... side or frontal is not usually a problem. I like it because it keeps the sun off my forehead and ears/nose much better than a cap or boonie, etc.

Yeah it looks funny, but not having sunburn on back, neck, ears and nose is worth it. Use mine for yard work and general work around the property.

I bought a 7” palm leaf from cavenders earlier in the year. It keeps the sun off pretty good. And it makes the neighbors stare pretty good too. Good hat for mowing

It doesn’t like the wind too much when I take a break and ride the dog around the neighborhood on the Ranger. Front flips straight up and makes the neighbors stare even worse....

Wear one religiously while working outdoors. Also wear a cloth under it that covers my neck and ears. Helps catch sweat too.

Sun would go right through that bad boy and fry my head. Haha. Gonna look into those palm leaf hats. Found some for decent price at cavendars. Do those keep sun off face, ears and neck pretty well? 4"? 41/2", 5" brim?

Love my palm hat! Got at boot barn for $25 i think. Nice elastic band, keeps it on.

I take it off and put it under the console when hauling butt on the boat. Other than that i wear it all the time.

Yall think 4"-41/2" brim would work in those palm leaf cowboy hats, to keep sun off ears and neck? Are those palm leaf cowboy hats hot in the sun?

Where can I have one made custom fitted?

4Ē brim hat is a normal cowboy hat brim. I went with a 7Ē and itís awesome for keeping the sun off. I know folks swear palm leafs donít breathe and are hotter but i canít tell. When itís hot, itís just hot.

I'm bald so I wear hats, caps all the time.

My dermatologist recently told me to ditch the ball caps and wear the full brimmed hats full time.

These from Big Bend Saddlery in Texas were recommended on here before. You can reshape them with water if you want.

If you like stampede strings or other hat accessories, they can be added for you when ordering.

I have a palm leaf and a straw. Straw is cooler but the palm takes the sweat better. I'm looking for a palm with more ventilation than my current one.

I either wear my 4" or 6" Palm Leaf hat virtually anytime I'm working or playing outside anymore. My father has had many skin growth and/or cancer surgeries and I feel that being very light completed makes me susceptible to that kind of thing.

I have a palm leaf hat that I think has a 5 inch brim. I use it for just about anything if I'm in the sun for more than an hour. It works great. I've had the wind blow it off a few times, but for the most part, it's great. I don't care if people think it looks goofy with shorts and flip flops. I don't want to get skin cancer and it's much easier than sun screen.

I got one of these and really like it. Doesnít look like the $20 beach hut hats either, its a quality piece. Just need to find a good hat band for it. I like the string also for when the wind picks up.
