    Droptine question on muley

Had a muley this past year with a 4" + droptine off the back of his mainbeam a few inches from base. It broke off a few weeks after going hard horned. What's the chances that he will grow back a droptine this year?

IME with drop tines, they are hard to predict. In whitetails I have seen bucks have them one year and never again, seen them on side one year then on the opposite side the next year, or seen them have them every year once they start growing them on good nutrition. Genetics, nutrition and rainfall effect it greatly. IME, a lot of drop tines are injury related when you only see them one year. Rainfall out in West Texas seems to dictate NT points more than any other factor on our lease. I have only seen 4 different MD bucks in 10 yrs with a drop tine(s). One of them did not have a drop tine the year before, the rest I could not tell you any history on before or after.
