    How long before it's mine

So my family has owned land for 40+ years that no one in family ever used. Last year we decided to actual do something with the property. Come to find out someone who hunted the property next to our land decided he would put a hog trap on our place. We told him he needed to get the trap off our property. Well it's been months since we have heard or seen him and the trap is still there. My question is how long before I can just claim trap. He was leasing the land next to ours so I don't want to just go move it to that property if it's not his land and have the neighbors mad at me.

For me it would of been the second I found it

Sounds like someone dumped some scrap metal on your place. Haul it off.

yours, plus he needs to pay you lease money for hunting on your land.

                      It's your land
The way I look at it is that
                      1: Trespassing while hunting. Violation*
2: Hunting without landowners consent. Violation*
3: Illegal dumping if its scrap. Violation*
4: Placed hunting equipment onto your property. Now it's yours. Sell it or keep it

                      What I wouldn't do:
-Put it back on the other property cause then you could be in trouble for trespassing if they took it that far

I would just call the local game warden and bring it to their attention

That what I was thinking also...I personally don't have a use for it but will definitely pull it out the woods and make sure everything is working with it...i think it's missing the spring which shouldn't be to hard to fix

Holler at me when you come down. I'll trade you something for it.

Just call the sheriff or game warden to document just in case it becomes an issue down the road. Then trade Brett C something cool for it!
