My understanding from asking around in Kansas and KY about the Amish, is that all of their “big money” comes from the church. That’s how they buy houses, new land, etc... They go to the church which I’ve heard is like their bank and it’s voted on whether to give them the funds or not. So I’m guessing that’s how it was paid in full quickly. But yes, most of them are carpenters by trade and prob save every penny.

It’s a shame that giant buck was killed illegally.

Lots of mennonites and some Amish live around us. They moved over the line from MO several years ago when MO started requiring pictures on drivers licenses.

They’re good folks. They don’t pay taxes, all money goes to the church. They are NOT broke. Best neighbors you could ask for.
