Glad rhey were able to walk and ride away. They must have some special horses to hang around a grizzly attack!

Anybody listened to Steven Rinella's Meat Tree podcast? He and guests talked about being attacked and had a lot of good info about what to do in that situation. Definitely would recommend listening if you're going to Grizzly territory anytime soon. Beautiful animals but **** can they do some damage. Glad to hear these people survived.

To clarify, Rinella's podcast is the Meat Eater podcast. Episode name is The Meat Tree, although it's in two parts.

For those wondering why the guide didn't shoot:

                1) These attacks happen in a split second. Remi Warren said that he's not sure he could've shot the bear that attacked the meateater crew even if he had it drawn.

                2) The bear had the hunter. You would absolutely risk shooting the hunter to shoot the bear.

No win situation at that point. I commend the guide for risking his life to save the hunter.

Definite heroics by the guide. Hope they both make a full recovery.

The grizzly population is very high up here and their territory is expanding.
                        Time to delist?

Yeah, same here. I think the wounds and broken leg would be enough evidence that it was in self-defense in this situation.

Game warden incident may be a different story.

Definitely time Brute Killer and it has been a long road with the anti's and feds. Has been a start/stop scenario time and time again with lawsuits from different anti organizations.

Our state believes we are very close again to being able to manage them at the state level and start having seasons on them. Nobody knows better than the individual states how to manage the states wildlife resources and that cannot be done from Washington.

We got the wolves finally delisted and this fall we opened a season on them.

Part of the problem is the bears are no afraid of people and over the years have literally learned to associate a rifle shot with a dinner bell. There are many stories of bears being on a downed elk before or soon after the hunter finds it.

He grabbed the bear by the neck and stabbed it with his hunting knife
Wow. a brave man right there.

The US Fish and Wildlife Service delisted the Grizzly in the GYA (Greater Yellowstone Area) in 2007. That decision was overturned by a federal court. The reasons cited by the court have sine been rectified and the Fish and Wildlife service is currently working on delisting.
