    Turkey fan mounts

This is my first attempt mounting some turkey tail fans. I’ve had the fans dried and hanging in the shop for a while and finally decided how I wanted to mount them.

Nice mounts. I’m assuming those are all Rio’s and it’s interesting to see the difference in colors.

so there is no tanning or salting involved, just let it dry out?

Mount the fan in the position you would like it and cover it with Borax and l t dry. As I remember about a week or so.

Remove all flesh and fat and cover area with borax. I fan it out and staple to plywood and put some weight on it to hold it down flat. I let mine sit at least 2-3 weeks.

The first one is from the fall and second is a spring bird. Both Rio’s
