Cool

May be able to get up this month. Covid-19 has given me a few days off work. I also have a pass around longbow that I would like to get some hunting time with.

Heading out tomorrow. Hoping the rain and cold gets em moving. Seems like a good way to practice some distancing too.

Negative. Saw a bunch of fresh sign but no hogs. Gave up pretty quick when my boots filled with water.

Went back today. Again, no hogs. Did kill a couple rabbits and even saw a turkey. First time ever seeing a gobbler out there. Pretty cool.

Went this morning with a no hog result. Watched a young 8pt hooking some saplings and act like he was dogging a doe. And the turkeys were a gobbling their heads off. Was a short trip this morning tho. 3 mile loop in a couple hrs

This cool damp weather would be prime hog stalking conditions. Doubt there will be many out so pushing pigs would be slow. Solo is real tough, tag team is better. Three is best.

Whites still doing well? Been catching quite a few but been about a week and they stop faster than they start. Going Monday assumed but do not want to get wet. Wife might start expecting me to bathe.

Yep, some ding dongs. It is crowded and popular stretch so I just live with it and stay calm. Walk, maybe get wet, until I find a little spot with some room.

Just walk down with your 12 pack of Coronas and start coughing.
Maybe even wear some gloves and a face mask.

Really would like to bring this longbow to Granger it shoots pretty good. First shoot and last shot of three dozen, four were not on the black dot at 15-18 yards. Center started to get kinda soft.

Get some river minnows or know your jig. Lots of fish, but lots of people. Vast majority are really nice even if crowded. Pic was today a few hours.

were on stay home orders Williamson starting in a few hours. But it reads specifically ok (and other comments prior recommends) to enjoy outdoor recreation as long as 6 feet away from the other yahoo. I say that is a go, to go (fish). Otherwise continue fixin this house.

Welcome to the forum. A stand would work. Especially over bait. But you probably want to scout a spot to set up first. As always, I highly recommend reading all 130+ pages of this thread. What else do you have to do these days anyways?

Wear comfortable walking shoes.
Always have an arrow nocked and release on the string.
If they are running shoot them in the lips.
Take water (or a filter), it's getting hot.
You cannot outrun a pig.

I know this is the granger forum but I figured at least some of yall may have knowledge about sam Houston as well. I'm throwing some buckshot into the old boomstick and going to spend the weekend out there. Any recommendations?

Ive done well every year at Crockett piney creek horse camp for deer and hogs. For hogs just walk the main trail untill you hear them it forks down some ways go to the left have alway had luck on that side but thats the most of my knowledge of that area

Well dang, I guess buckshot is not a legal means of take? Looks like slugs are ok though... anybody got any idea why that is? I'm thinking I may call a game warden to verify.

This and don't forget your orange and several arrows.
Leading hog on shot is especially important, they can be moving pretty lickey-split. Don't forget follow through, either.

Bunch of places on Lock Down with essential movement only; work, food, medical, etc... I here the fee is pretty stiff, at least in San Antonio.

Seems as if landscape crews can be out and dry cleaners are still operating, my solitary activity to provide food and escape constipated grocery stores will be minuscule on the scale of problems.

Copied and pasted from Williamson County Face Book Page. I deleted my last name butr otherwise it is the Counties answer to my question:

Randall (Deleted) Can I drive to a local park (alone) keep space between others if any are present and go fishing. Might even go to the trails at Lake Granger to do the same but unsure how this is looked upon by enforcement considerations. I understand it is not staying at home so assume it is a no but there are encouragement comments to go outside and get some exercise and sun so unsure.

Williamson County Hi Randall, that is a great question! You are able to go out and enjoy parks within Williamson County Parks Department. Check before heading to a specific park to make sure they are open.

Is anyone planning on going either tomorrow or Sunday morning. I am thinking of going out by primitive boat launch and walking some miles.

Well itís official. I suck at finding pigs at granger. Multiple trips now and not even a sighting. And since when can you just pitch a tent wherever you want in the woods? I thought it was designated camping areas only. Camp set up where I usually get on them. Across the river from the primitive camp ground and towards the lake a couple hundred yds. Guess Iíll try again next weekend tho. Lol
