Terrain sure looks more hill country (oaks, white rock in the ground). But that deer’s grandpappy was probably from Iowa.

Tag in ear don't mean anything. I used to guide at the Sanctuary in Michigan. We went out every spring and caught as many fawns as we could and put a colored tag in its ear. That way we would know what age the deer was in a couple yrs. they were still wild deer but behind a high fence. yes it was high fence and I know a lot of people don't like high fence but a lot of people on here do hunt high fence. I don't have a problem with it. To each its own. Me personally I can't afford to hunt a high fence. So don't always think a tagged deer is a pet.

I hunt HF and not against it. Buck in avatar is HF and I hunted another this season behind a HF. I just wouldnít label the buck above as a Monster East Tx buck. Maybe it was killed in East Tx (terrain doesnít look like it) but clearly not native East Tx genetics.

When I opened this thread I expected to see a true native East Tx giant.

? Is how many deer in east Texas high fence ranches are native. I doubt many. I'm sure they culled them out. So I dought the above pic is native.

What’s the difference? Serious question? Don’t know much about raising deer. my train of thought though is If you skim out the unwanted native genetics and keep the more desired in a east TX high operation and have an intense feed program you basically have the same thing pictures above one would think

Yes I sure did. Not against it. My point is the buck above is not an East Tx Monster.

I thought you killed your first buck low fence Antler 86. You said you weren't hunting a high fence but you could see it from where you were hunting.

Never said I wasnít hunting HF

Your post is in regards to Safari Waters? I donít hunt there but own acreage and live across from there.

Both of my bucks were HF as stated in my season thread.
