I was in a similar situation and went with the Leupold VX-3i LRP 6.5-20x50mm. I compared all the glass and clarity within similar price ranges and hands down this was the best glass. I’ve been working on shooting out to 500 yards and this glass is spot-on!

Go to GA Precision. They are having a sale on the Bushnell 4.5-18x44 LRHS FFP scope. $750 or $800 with a leatherman M.U.T. tool. Smoking deal. This will be the last run of this sale. You have to pre-order and wait a few months for it. A buddy just got one on this deal and really likes it...especially for the price.

I would look at the Zeiss Conquest HD5, NF SHV, Sightron SIII, Nikon Black FX1000,SWFA SS. Any of these will foot the bill and fall in your budget. SHV will be slightly over $1000 but would be worth it. Accurateshooter.com classifieds have excellent deals on used optics as well. Might find a deal on a more expensive optic
