I gotta agree, only big rifles I've owned are in .308 and I've been all over the country with it and never had an issue. It'll be going to Canadiana land for moose and caribou next year as well.

I’ll give it to ya, if I was going to chase a 1500-1600# moose I wouldn’t have the confidence in any of the 30 cal bullets.

To each their own, but I’d wager at least 80% of the moose killed with modern rifles have been with .30 caliber or smaller bullets. Ditto for elk.

I know of a ton that have been killed with a .303 British.

I own both. I would not consider a nilgai a Texas game animal but if you do, either round will kill it dead. There are wild hogs in Texas that have thicker shoulder shields than moose and nilgai.

.300 RUM. I have many friends hunting moose with them.
