    CVA rifles

I bought a CVA Scout rifle in 300 blackout, 3 years ago. I really like it. For a cheap single shot the quality seemed really good.
It is short, light, super accurate, great trigger.
I shot 2 nice bucks, a couple does, a hog, a couple coyotes and a coon with it. I got complete pass thoughs on all my shots even with some cheap zombie max bullets.
The first year I hunted with it I noticed that every box of bullets I would have 2-3 misfires. The primer strikes looked light. I sent it back in to CVA and they cleaned it up and shot it 10 times with some more expensive Hornady ammo and said there was nothing wrong with it. I assumed it was just the type of ammo I was using.
I didn't use it the following year. This past season I used some different ammo and started having the same issues again. I tried several different brands and types of ammo and had some misfires with each. I sent it back to CVA and they told me it couldn't be repaired and that they no longer make that gun in 300 blk.
They did offer to pay me what I paid for it, or replace it with another gun (which I was pleased to hear).

**have any of you guys had misfires or and other issues with CVA rifles?**

They told me they had never had this with their guns but I have a hard time believing this.

Was it a specific ammo that had the issues, or, several different brands?

I know the RAR has/had issues firing the Barnes TAC

Sure hate to hear that cause it sucks. I have a CVA Scout II in stainless with a fluted barrel with factory muzzle brake in .35 Whelen and it's a tack driver out to 200 yrds and have had zero issues.

I have an older CVA with Bergara bull barrel 270. I shoot Hornady through it in 150 grain and it never fails me.

I used Hornady zombie max, rem UMC 120gr, R.E.M. 220 gr subs, R.E.M. Hog hammer, they all had misfires and primers were light strikes

I'm getting a scout II in the 450 bushmaster to replace the 300 blk I had.

I noticed they discontinued several other rifle calibers they previously manufactured. I was really hoping they would come out with a 6.5 creedmore.
I thought they would have just installed a stronger hammer spring, but I guess not.
I searched the internet to see if there were any issues with CVA rifles and misfires, but didn't really find anything.
It's kinda funny, I bought this gun for my kids to use. Once I shot it, I liked it so much I started hunting with it.

Do you have a thumb cocker on the hammer? Or Thumb stud?
Sometimes the weight of that can make light hammer strikes. I get it with my TC Encore. Took it off and am sending in for a stronger trigger spring and trigger job.
Contact Marty at Haus Of Arms. They are TC specialists, but they deal in Bergarra which makes the bbls for CVA. So I think you might have a shot with them fixing it if you like that rifle so much. Send email...all they can do is say no. Ask for trigger job and tell your story. Mike Bellm is another single shot guru out there. Might be able to help.

                Good Luck.

                  Good Luck.
It does have a spur on the hammer to help cock it.
I talked with a customer service agent today, he said they though the problem was caused by incorrect headspacing.
I appreciate the info, good to know there are some single shot gurus out there

Try taking the thumb stud off. Made a difference with my Encore and I occasionally get light strikes in my H&R AAC 300 BO single shot. Scope mounting makes hammer cocking a PITA for these single shots. Thumb studs are crucial to help with cocking. I think it could be a simple fix as to installing a heavier hammer spring. Haus of Arms installs a 40lb trigger spring to get you past all that.
                    Good Luck.

I have a CVA stalker in 45-70 that fires every time and shots everything I put though it. I only fire lever action level loads though it though.
