Marco vanes that are no longer made are a softer vane. You can find them on ebay. Flex Fletch vanes are also softer vanes, but I believe they have changed the formula with new ones. They seem a little stiffer. They are quieter and durable in my experience, x2 agree with Rick.

The MARCO's are still being made. Mullen Sales just decided to drop their website, and do all their marketing on EBAY.

          That's the vanes I use.

I thought they were also when I couldn't find their website any longer, but they are alive & well on ebay, and have a huge selection of sizes & colors to choose from.

It'll just make them flutter, and won't benefit you at all.

I've even tried the Bi-Delta "Rain Vanes", and some others created to try to be more like feathers. I didn't like them at all. My standard medium soft vanes work 1000 times better.

Good to know. Thanks for the guidance Rick.

AAE Archery just came out with a Trad vane.
I ordered some just to play with.
I'll report back after I've had a chance to test them out.

I just ordered some of those too.

From testing they seem to be good to go

I thought about picking some up, but my new broadheads hiss worse than my feathers, so I don't think it's worth worrying about.

After listening to the testing the trad lab did on those vanes I think I will try some. It also pushed me to trim my feathers down from 5” to 3”. Im very happy with the results so far. I was told by a mentor over a decade ago that bigger feathers would stabilize the arrow better in all conditions so I never even played around with anything less than 5”. Goes to show how you can get stuck in one way of thinking if you never try anything new.

I dont think the purpose of the vanes is specifically to be quieter. Waterproofness is the main thing.

                          Maybe but they are quieter.

My primary reasons for shooting vanes is their durability, and ease of cleanup after shooting them through an animal, especially a stink nasty pig.

Keeping my fletching dry has never been a concern. My arrows with feathers fly just as good wet as they do dry.

The quietness in light of the vanes was a nice plus.

Duct tape vanes work well in the rain
