I just finished the rt split G3, will be sanding tomorrow. I am pretty proud of myself, this is easier than I thought so far, now the staining/painting may be a train wreck I will soon find out. I haven't purchase a stain yet but will be checking out online recomendations and taking a trip to the hardware store. The repair kit came with 3 colors of paint. I may make a fake antler and use it as a testing board before starting on the horns. I am going to stain it a color similar to what I find in the hill country which is a darker color produce by rubbing on cedar. The horns I am working on are all but bone color bleached by at least a year of exposure. I will keep yall up todate on the progress and if you have any suggestions on stain colors/brands/methods etc. please let me know, because I have zero taxidery experience and just winging it right now.

looks awesome so far. the only problem you may run into is the fact that the antlers had been outside so long. they become very porous when left outside. you may run into a coloring/staining issue w/ the old antler vs new clay. hopefully not though. cant wait to see the finished pics!!
