    Question about a doubler?

I have an old 2x adapter or doubler for my canon 7d. It went to an old 35mm camera of my dads. If I use it with my camera and lenses, will it affect the clarity, f stop, depth of field, or anything aside from the zoom?

I may be wrong but I think you lose 1 f stop when using one. The one I bought said it will not work with a 5.6 but it works fine except the auto focus. You have to focus manually.

While the teleconverter will bring things closer, it will degrade the clarity and resolution. You will lose two f-stops. ie: A 2.8 lens becomes a 5.6 lens, an f4 lens becomes an f8. Your auto-focus will slow way down, if it works at all. I'm not sure what effect it has on the depth of field.

x2 on Scotty's post. Still useful depending on what you're shooting. Fast action - no good. Still wildlife shots in good light - good!
