TBH poll: Lightning bug or Firefly?

Growing up what did you call them, and where bouts are you from?


Out here in the piney woods of Southeast Texas, Hardin County, I always called them lightning bugs as a kid. I never heard them called fireflies until I was grown.

Never saw one in west Tx. Once I grew up and moved to NTX, saw my first while I was running thru some woods...they scared me.

In extreme South Texas (RGV), we called them lightning bugs.
