                  Wow. I wouldn't have believed it......... That is crazy. So I just looked at Real & Edwards county and they do not have a bear season....... does that mean there is not a restriction on bears so you could have shot it?

                        I grew up out in that area years ago and almost every year there were reported sighting of bears around the Camp Wood/Leakey/Rocksprings area. Usually late summer when it got really dry in Mexico. Every now and then there would be a photo in the Uvalde Leader-News of one that was hit by a car.

                            I saw one at Ex inlaws ranch in Zavala county yes ago. Ex FIL said they come over every now again from Mexico .
