I'm trying to figure out what the dudes are doing sitting down in the JLG basket while it's boomed out. Eating lunch 50' in the air?

Some people understand history and learn from the past. Older folks and literature educate the younger generations to respect where we came from , and look how far we've gotten today .....

In Warsaw, Poland .. Joseph Stalin built the largest and tallest building in the city called he palace of culture. The Polish people have it b/c of what it stands for, the subjugation and enslavement by the Soviets of Poland. But they chose to leave it up, not as a money making tourist attraction, but to remember what happened so it doesn't happen again. Every time they see it they remember what Stalin did and every generation coming up gets to see it and learn about the history of it.

To look on the bright side of this once all those monuments are gone the city will instantly become a center for peace and understanding among races yes?

/sarcasm

They need to just break open the levee again and leave the entire cesspool flooded.

Richard.
But that might pollute the gulf! Better to just "bury it" since the gov there is already "dirty". But then someone would come along and say there was a "cover-up". Just say-n.

Hmmm, yep name truly fits personality

FYI - the majority of people in NOLA are NOT the problem. The "cesspool" consists of the corrupt politicians who have caved into social justice groups without allowing the tax payers a true vote on this monument removal.

In all fairness, the "majority" of the people obviously voted the corrupt politicians in.

The streets are blocked by police. There is no telling what this is costing the city by the hour. And they are in no hurry either.

What crane company is doing the work? It sure seems like it would be bad business to take this thing down for them.

Shoot, even if the city found an operator, and rented the crane, I would be shocked that anyone would rent a crane to the city for this...

Notice on the boom lift, the rental company name is blacked out/covered up.

Yeah, I see that now. That being said, it only takes one person to follow that equipment back to where it was rented. With the amount of construction that goes on in that area (the Greater New Orleans area), and the pride of the south, I can't grasp how a company would run that risk of upsetting their bread a butter industry just to make a couple grand off the city...

Hate to see what is happening to NOLA and to all the cities across the nation. Lots of history in NOLA. Sickens me to see it (history) torn out and tossed aside like trash. Doesn't change history or fact but then again history belongs to those who write it. I can't imagine what history books will read like 100 years from now.

Which way is the General gonna go?
Are his feet gonna hit the basket if they leave it in place?

At least those guys look to be tied off, they gonna dangle for a while if they get catapulted out.

"rigging it right" would be to weld loops and mounts on it - chain it at 6 points and lower it down.

Considering the good mayor's opinion of General Lee, I'm surprised he doesn't just have them bring in a D8 Cat and push the whole thing over - pedestal and all. Now that would make a statement!
