Default First Hunt With The New Thermal Scope.......

First hunt with the new thermal. A little rusty the first time out but I hope to get better.

Shots were made from 200 yards off a fixed mount.

This is a Manfrotto 322RC2 Joystick camera mount with a LaRue quick disconnect rail adapter that LaRue made specifically for it. They are designed to mount on tripods.

https://www.manfrotto.us/horizontal-...-rapid-connect

http://www.larue.com/larue-tactical-...y-rail-adapter

I have a motion detector mounted to the feeder that sends a signal to a chime in the house. When it goes off I carry the gun to the back fence....lock in the quick connect and shoot.

That was great, been on the fence on a T-scope. I already have a NV scope that is pretty clear. Just trying to justify the expense.

Ok, got home....cleaned and downloaded the video on the desktop. Its a little better quality. Listen for the thump as I hit the hog the second time.

Scope has a decent microphone.

Looks like you are going to have lots more opportunities to try that again.

Quick question... Is it an artifact of the video or do you really loose the horizontal reticle line on the scope when you zoom in?

I see it through the eye piece but the video doesn't see it in that magnification(4x) for some reason. If I go up or back in magnification(1x, 2x, 8x) it reappears on the video.

Not sure why it does that. There might be a contrast setting I can adjust that makes it reappear.

I showed my wife your video, told her we need to renew our vows. She thought I was just being sweet until she realized that I wanted her to put a ring on it or I mean thermal scope! Hey, I spent that on her bling!!!

Good stuff and thanks for sharing!

I checked the gam camera yesterday. Just hours after I shot that shoat a lone boar cam in fed around the feeder for almost an hour. I was surprised......thought the carcass would have scared him off.

They are baaaack.....two nights in a row the motion detector on the feeder went off.

First kill was at 200 yards.....the buzzards had totally consumed it buy 8:30am the next morning.

Second kill I had to stalk as the cows were directly in the way. The up side was they gave me cover to close in to 60 yards. Battery was dead on the MDVR so no video.....Arrrggg!!!

I am really enjoying this thermal scope.
