Default How many fly fishermen on here.

I am wondering how many bow hunters on here fly fish for a few reasons.
1. To me it's the bow hunting of fishing.
2. Trying to find some one to share fishing reports and tactics with.
3. Possibly find some fly fishing buddies
4. Find something to do during the off season. Also the peak season for trout

I have been fly fishing for about 25 years.

I have fished fresh and saltwater but only local species. I have not ventured to trout streams out of state but catch bass and other pan fish in freshwater and specks and reds and occasionally small sharks in saltwater.

I've fly fished here for bass and perch a few times but have hit up some of the stocked areas around here for rainbows with some success. One of my favorites around here is Nolan creek. Still haven't made it to the Guadalupe.

I haven't fished much the last two years, but I normally fish more than I hunt. Flyfishing only.

I agree with your reasons for fly fishing and have enjoyed the sport for 20+ years. Have gone from novice to tying my own flies. Most of my current fly time now is spent perch jerking at the lakehouse. However, I have managed to really tie into some very nice bass and cats in the shallow water around the boat house.

I've been a fly fisher for almost 20 years now. Live in Dallas for 10 years, and for the most part, stopped. Started back up, seriously, about 2 years ago. Moved to CO this past year, primarily, to fly fish.

I've been fly fishing almost 15 years. Guided for 9 seasons in Alaska. Haven't been in a while. I'd love to hit the coast for some Reds and Speckled Trout.

Almost exclusively. Not much into trout fishing but love wading the flats and marshes of the coast for reds and jacks and trying to catch big nasty bass and bluegill.

Yep its definitely an addiction. If you do decide to get started, go to an actual fly shop rather than a big box store like bass pro etc. They'll be more knowledgeable. Backwoods in Fort Worth and Tailwaters in Dallas are the the two I use most often.

Thanks figured I was there might as well make theost of it. The cherry trout are by far the toughest fish I've ever fished for. Low crystal clear water in small streams way in the mountains. Really easily spooked and tough casting. Not to mention the hike to get to them.

They get about six inches there in the rivers and will eat all your dry fly presentations before they get to the target fish. Never a day of not catching fish there with them around.😄

I have been fly fishing for 50 years, grew up in South FL fishing the Everglades, Flamingo and Key West. Started out on bass and bluegills graduated to all the in shore species, Snook, Tarpon, Reds, Trout, Bones, Cudas, Sharks, Permit.

Did a lot of tournament fishing and guiding out of Flamingo and Key West. We did a lot of offshore and wreck fly fishing out of Key West, taking Kings, Dolphin, Tunas, Sails, Bonitas, Snapper, Grouper, Permit, AJs, Cudas and others.

Always, have enjoyed fly fishing and now back to FL bass and bluegills in my ranch pond, here in TX. Occasional trips back to FL for flats fly fishing out of Flamingo for Snook and Reds. Nice thread.
