Default KCA Ranch. A Work in Progress.

I was a one man show this weekend. Got up to centerville on Saturday around 11 and got busy.

Put up a new feeder about 100 yards from camp. I'll be able to see it from the camper window.

Then I set up a 10' quad pod about 20 yds
away.

Arrow is pointing at the seat. Should have good cover and can hunt most winds depending on where they come from.

I'm hoping to draw some deer from this side of the creek from the adjoining properties. My other feeder is at the other end of the property on the other side of the creek. A lot more deer traffic up there.

Then I went to the far northeast corner and set up a 15' double ladder stand for rifle hunting. It has pretty good views down the right-of-ways:

Putting my little trailer to work:

One view towards the west:

View towards the south. There's a good deer crossing at the top of the hill.

Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1396226696.956731.jpg

Don't look down!

Size: 254.9 KB

Then I went to my back feeder up on the hill and put up another 10' quad pod about 17 yds from the feeder. I had to fight to get it where I wanted. Still have some trimming to oo but I will be invisible if it works out right.

Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1396226793.267524.jpg

From the ground below the stand. There's a big scrape about 50 yds away from here and the trail leads from there to my feeder area.

Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1396226911.374728.jpg
Views: 1602

I had to cut a LOT of ya upon with loppers and an old school pole saw. This is just from around my back feeder to open up the shooting and feeding area more:

Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1396227040.535682.jpg
Views: 1594

I made it back home and just relaxing now.

Wife wants a washer and dryer put in and another AC in the camper. Never ending labor of love.

Thanks for following.

And watch out for barbed wire when you're cutting brush.

It's about 70% wooded. It's clear near the front by camp and then a nice couple acres in the back up on a hill with big oaks. The rest is wooded. There are several nice roads/trails that I can drive a vehicle down along the perimeter and cutting through the property.

Bought the supplies to make an outdoor shower on the back of our well house. We have hot and cold water outlets coming outside. Bought a "Y" hose to connect them together, some fittings, a short water hose, PVC and brackets, and a cheap shower head. Gotta figure out what to stand on while I cool off. Maybe a pallet covered with something. I'll post pics this weekend.

Scored an awesome fiberglass grate for my outdoor shower floor. It's 4x8 so I'll probably cut it in half.

Finally broke down and bought a riding mower. Mary mowed a few acres in the dark!

Mary worked on her little garden. After she got it all planted a built a rabbit fence around it. Probably not completely critter proof but it may work:

I would put that fiberglass grate up off the dirt.

Will not going the hurt the grate but might sink into the soil.

Looking Good!

I think the wife is researching that now. Seeing what all will grow in sandy loam. Thanks.

I have sandy loam and planted ayers and kieffer pears. Ayers good eating, kieffer good for preserves if you want some for yourself. I have a cage around mine right now to protect them and plan on a pen so only deer get them when they mature. For oaks plant some sawtooth if you haven't looked into that, that's another tree I wished I planted years ago.

Default KCA Ranch. A Work in Progress.

Got a lot done this weekend. Called up an ol' boy and told him to bring me a truck load of slag for my driveway. He brought it out yesterday morning and dumped it the best he could. I told my wife we should stop what we're doing and go buy a new Kubota tractor with all the implements. She laughed and told me to get busy. So I busted out the Polaris ATV, little trailer, and a couple of shovels. My wife hung in there during the hottest part of the day and we got 15 tons (per the truck driver) spread in our parking/walking area between the camper and "Town Hall" (wife's name for the well house).

I mentioned to the wife one more time that I sure could use a tractor with a box blade. She told me that I was a redneck and I would figure out something. So I tucked my tail, put pencil to paper, checked my Redneck Inventions app on my iPhone....and got 'er done:

Next project was an outdoor shower for rinsing off the dirt, mud, and, blood. I'll rig up a pvc shower rod system next trip. Has hot and cold water from the well house. Picked up a 8' fiberglass grate for my floor and cut it in half with the sawzall. Used a "Y" hose connector to run the hot and cold together and then picked up some pvc fittings that would work with the water hose and shower head. Snugged it to the wall with some pipe strap thingamabobs and it was on! Water is ice cold coming out of the well. I love it!

Just need to level the floor grate with some pavers, add a towel hook, and a soap/shampoo basket.

Hope the neighbors don't see me in my camo thong!

From my came cams over the past few weeks. Starting to see more daytime pics. Got a second feeder running near camp. Don't expect much there due to the human activity nearby but hopefully they will start hitting it.

There's so few deer up to this point that I'd feel guilty shooting one.
