Thank you! You have a beautiful place and I am absolutely envious of all those axis

In 2 sits there have been 28 deer seen and a hen, the gobblers have all been on the neighbors place a ways away. When i came out of the stand last night there were 15+ deer on the Buck Forage oats.

We have been trying to kill a couple hogs that are making their rounds but they are being pretty sporadic.

Ill post pics of my milo tomorrow or sunday... its looking good. The wheat and oats have also shot up since i shredded the broomweed off of it and the rain we got.

Good news (not for my wallet) is that the deer are really starting to hit the protein hard. Im looking forward to watching those antlers grow!

Got some work done this weekend.

I had a terrace going across my road that got washed out/worn down. It directs water into the tank ext to the house, so I wanted to get it fixed before we got any more rain. After an hour with a box blade and an hour or so raking and shoveling Im pleased with how it turned out. It is hard to see in the pic but i made it roll about 1.5' high and it is around 50' in length. I also used the box blade to level and fill a big washout in the road behind the new terrace.

The 1.2" of rain really made the Buck Forage oat perk up. Thursday night there were 15+ deer on it when I was leaving the stand.

I went to my dads property and got my Blind Turtle. I set it up in a grove of small oaks. I have some more brushing in to do but I am pleased with it!

A big skunk just fell victim to my .357 sig! I love killing nest predators.

I saw 2 quail last night on the way to the stand, the first seen out here in about 8 months.
No hogs showed yesterday, but 10 deer for me, 5 plus a hen for tiffany. There were also 5 deer at the house feeder this morning and a lone hen.

This is the feeder we call "Fort Griffin Road." It was smooth last sunday...

Aha! Got one and hit another

There were about 10 piglets with her and 2 other hogs, but I made sure I shot the momma. The coyotes will take care of the others.

Mainly for quail I am focusing on feeding and the control of nest predators, however, I have quite a bit of native range and CRP that i am preserving and managing.

Have you thought about hinge cutting the lower limbs on some of the mesquites ?

Once the mesquites in the area where I am letting them grow begin to gain some size, I will hinge cut some. For now I am letting them grow freely to create more bedding area, and to thicken the area around my north protein feeder.

Sippy, since your in the process. Question for you..

I have about the same amount of land to hunt, land owner is AG exempt now. Question is are their more benefits to wildlife exemptions then ag?? If so can ya fill me in.. I am managing property for him all ready.

Any help would be appreciated on this.

The benefits are the same, I am just going with wildlife because that is my main focus on the property. Cattle will be on the side and not constant.

I need to get our skid loader from my grandpa's place and do some tank and dam repair, but that sucker is a pain to haul!

Other than that I am waiting on fawns to drop and trying to bang away at the hogs until it is time to plant in September.

Non ranching/wildlife related we may start building a deck off the back of the house
