How long are you loading those rounds? Mag length or out to the lands? I'm measuring a pretty good amount over mag length to get my 140 ELDM to get to the lands on my rifle.

Lightbulb Max COAL or Max CBTO for the 6.5 Ruger Predator

I will respond on this one.....Me and TX-punisher reload/shoot together, we have the same rifles........

We made our own Modified Case for the Hornady O.A.L. Gauge Tool
What I did to get the MAX COAL or MAX CBTO for this rifle is the following:

I got a fire-form case from 143 eldx factory ammo,
Clean it, trim it to 1.915",
Do not touch Headspace and do not touch neck on brass
Drill out the primer pocket with a .290" Letter Gauge L bit
Tap out the hole with a 5/16″-36 TPI Threading Tap

Using the hornady, I measure 10 different times(2 different bullets) and got the following
with the 143 ELDX max COAL is 2.895" OR CBTO is 2.250"
With the 142 SMK max COAL is 2.875" OR CBTO is 2.260"

WE ARE LOADING OUR RELOADS AT MAX "KISSING LANDS" COAL FOR LADDER TESTING, THEN OCW TESTING, AND FINALLY WE WILL DO A COAL/BULLET SEATING DEPTH TESTING FOR MAX ACCURACY

My self, I have always use the CBTO measurement or Cartridge Base To Ogive because this is measurement that relates to the actual touching lands or jump to lands or Jam into lands measurements
here is a good article about this:

I get better accuracy loading 1/2 a thousandth off the lands but since these rifles are so difficult to load one bullet at a time I started loading just shy of max magazine length. I can check tonight but you can measure your magazine.

Thanks cerralvo. I'm using the same measurement setup with the Hornady gauge and comparators to measure to the ogive in relation to the lands. I loaded mine .030 off the lands for my ocw test. I mocked up a few dummy rounds and that length seemed to feed without issue from the magazine. Are you guys running them through the mag or just going single shot for now? I'll have to look at the exact measurements when I get home, but I wasn't able to get COAL in the 2.8s to feed from the magazine.

Correct,
Is is hard for me to single load them into the chamber from the mag(no problem with my R.E.M. 700) but at this stage of my load development, I'm putting them by hand in the chamber.

I'm loading them by hand for now
Texas punisher has an aftermarket stock that allows him to load them long from the magazine

I have the original stock....however...I can put one long round in the magazine and load it from the Mag

I'm single loading for now but have checked my ai style mag and should be able to load to 2.9" or 2.915". I'm running the LMT chassis.

Cabelas League City has another one in stock. I put my hands on it today. They are running a sale on ruger predators for 399.99 normally 449.99. Do I get another finders fee? LOL

Anyone have a chance to shoot this ammo yet? This is cheaper than any other ammo from Hornaday.

Couple two shot groups as I ran out of bullets. Left group was first and then adjusted right.

Not bad for the first time with the rifle. Brought it home and cleaned the barrel. Hoping next time I can concentrate on getting some 3-5 shot groups that touch like these.

Just ordered one, budsgunshop. 397 plus tax and free shipping. Any recommendations on glass, considering vortex but this is the first gun I will want to stretch out with. The gun will outshoot my abilities, for what it's worth.

Finally got a chance to stretch the legs a little bit on my 6.5 Creedmoor RAP. My regular range only has a 100 yard range, but yesterday I finally got joined up at the other range near me, it has a 600 yard range. I only had about 20 rounds total for the gun, about half a box each of factory 129 and 140 gr loads. They both shoot to virtually the same POI at 100 yards. I verified zero at 100 with both loads, then moved to 200. The 129 took 6 clicks to rezero at 200, the 140 required 4 clicks. Moved to 300, and went to 15 and 13 clicks for the 129 and 140 respectively. That exhausted my 129 ammo. There is a 8" square gong at ~350 you can shoot from the same bench as the 300 target. I reset for it, added a couple more clicks and held on the upper left corner of the gong. The wind was a pretty steady 8-10 from 10 o'clock. First shot was a miss just over the top. Held dead on for three more shots. Here is what it did. This is the first time I've ever shot off the bench at more than 200.

Now that I've got all my factory rounds shot up, it's time to work up a load for it. There is a gong at 600 with my name on it for next weekend.

Thats the only option I saw when I ordered it. You just select the rifle from the drop down tist, then it takes you a page to pick the color, then directs you to check out.

Yeah, I knew they take factory mags. Really more just wondering if the trigger guard that they send with it is metal or plastic (since there isn't one to take off the predator...)?

Mine is supposed to be here tomorrow.

Boyds sends a plastic one, however, there are metal ones available.
