Tournament Format and Awards

Format:

2-Man Scramble is the competition format. It is exactly what it sounds like: a scramble in which the teams consist of two players each. After each shot, the better of the two shots is selected and both players play from that spot, until the ball is holed. One team score is recorded.

Two Flights:

1) Trophy Class Flight – As a guideline, if the combined handicaps (or best guess) are 25 or under, the team belongs in the Trophy Flight.

2) Cull Flight

**Winners of the previous year’s Cull Flight automatically move to this year’s Trophy Flight**

Tournament Awards:

1st 2nd and 3rd places in EACH of the two flights will be awarded trophies.
(12 trophies)

Additional Contests & Prizes:

1) Closest to the Pin Contests (2)

Cash prizes will be awarded on two par three holes for the competitor that hits his or her tee shot
closest to the pin from the designated tee box. (Cash amount based on participation.)

2) Long Drive Holes (2)

Cash Prizes will be awarded on two par fives to the competitor that hits the longest tee shot from his or her designated tee box The tee shot MUST be in the fairway in order to qualify. (Cash amount based on participation.)

Awards and general Happy Hour will follow immediately at Flips Patio. All site members are welcome to join us here!

Note: This tournament will strictly be a fun, quality event conducted through tournament fees.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

I'm in, partner TBD. Was worried about a conflict with the Ponder Education Foundation scramble since they moved it to June 3 this year, but now it should serve as a nice warmup.

I've played in Houston before in July and thought I was going to die. It was comfortable at Fossil Creek last year.

I'm in and will need a partner.

Looking for someone to drive cart, hit long drives in the fairway, hit the correct half of the greens, be on constant lookout for the beer cart, and keep score. My partner from last year, PHDAN, wanted me to say a strong back to carry me around is also required.

Will there be any kind of deal at the Holiday Inn?

Trying to make that left turn from Western Center without making the double left into Whataburger each night was impossible last year. Must have gained 10 lbs.

I have found the rooms are going to be cheaper to book online unless we have a huge block.

I need a partner too and will definitely be cull flight. I played in a scramble yesterday and it was the worst I have played since the year I started. I may be able to work into mid to high 80's by tourney time. Last year I at least made putts. I didn't even do that yesterday.

The low point was hitting a few shots and asking the Rep to put a driver in my hand to hit. He gave me the Callaway(?) Epic that our own resident pro and race car driver on here, RTP uses.

I hit it really good. When I asked the specs, it was an awakening. 10.5 degrees, regular flex regular flex, really ?

As of today, the only game I know I'll bring to Ft Worth will be plenty of golf balls to the first tee, some of which may be legal

Sorry for the late response...I took my mom out of town for Mother's Day and her birthday and just got home.

A few of us are staying at the Holiday Inn Express, so far. I needed too many rooms to get a block here, so just letting everyone know what is close.

The closest options are

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Fort Worth I-35 Western Center (right across the freeway from Flips Patio Bar)
(817) 234-9033

Other Options:

Comfort Inn
(817) 386-5666

Residence Inn by Marriott Fort Worth Fossil Creek
(817) 439-1300

Thanks,
Last year was the first year we were in DFW for the tournament. They had a Happy Hour Friday night before. Those not there Friday night came in on Saturday to play and do Flips afterwards.

Some of the locals will comment soon on Friday.

This local would like the HH to be Friday.at Twin Peaks, since I know how to get there.
Hope to be in Ft. Worth by Thursday sometime. Timing will be based on getting to Bergeron's Cajun Meats in Shreveport while they are open.

Friday I'll try to get up and drive somewhere. Maybe due West or up towards the s&w. Y'all Texans can get a little full of yourselves at times but if you drive West on 820 and look SW as you get to the airbase, WOW! Kinda wish our people had headed that way and said I'm going to stop here and raise cattle.
It's beautiful country. Then get by Fossil Creek for a practice round and some fine tuning. Then Twin Peaks.

Saturday. Go out shoot 63 and collect the hardware. I may have a putting contest if Mary approves and donate a prize, to be determined after I see who wins.

May 24th if you want golf shirt. June 1st if not.

My internet is down again and trying to get on from phone in house is not great. Best way to get an answer is to email me from my profile. I hope to be back up tomorrow.

All this time I thought I needed the right golf balls but this is what I'm bringing to the first tee this year. TBH does not have a doping policy do we?

Hey guys...please let me know if you are going to play so I can add you to the team list on the other thread. So far, our attendance is looking pretty weak. If this is going to be the case, I need to make a different arrangement with the course and Flips.

Let's get this going!
