Filled it out this weekend. On line appears to be the only option. Really!!! How many of folks don't do on line anything. It bites from the old age group to recent immigrants.
It asked almost too many questions.............

I was driving on rural county roads today in the middle of nowhere, there where census 2020 bags (with I guess papers in them, didn't look in bag) on ranch gates that nobody lives on.

I did mine tonight, seems like the same questions from 10 years ago. I do not remember if they wanted you to define your bloodlines in detail 10 years ago. It asked what kind of white I was (English, Irish, German). Who knows? Why is it important? I did the genome thing and still do not know some form british Ilse, some from western europe, some from nothern europe, some from iberrian peninsula - so I put north-american.

I found this question irritating and pointless so I skipped it.

I also thought it was funny that I had 15 choices for my relationship to my wife.

Non citizens should not get counted. If you are not a legal citizen you should have zero say in census related matters in this country.

I see the line of reasoning you are attempting here, but it's flawed. Legal citizen or not, their kids are going to school and utilizing other public resources, which are funded with $ that is allocated according to Census counts. If they don't participate, you end up paying for the services they use.

filling it out now. under the "white" option for origin/race it said stuff about english, german,Irish, etc. thing is, i domt know much of my ancient roots. i do know at some point some of my ancestors moved from alabama to arkansas. there were some up in Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri on the other side. supposedly one line goes to a signer of the declararion. it would not surprise me if there is a little native American mixed in, but I don't know that at all. so, I was too confused by the question to answer accurately and figured it most appropriate to check "other" and entered USA.

You do realize states with heavy illegals in them get extra govt representation because of the census head count right? If I remember correctly California is expected to pick up 5 extra seats in the House after the 2020 census is complete. And you can bet the Dems controlling the state will redraw the map to make sure each of those extra 5 seats will go to a Dem candidate.

Mike D, I respect your opinion, but I don't agree with it. I did a quick search (albeit brief), and found a somewhat dated article that suggests CA may lose seats:

"California and Minnesota are borderline cases, with each facing the possibility of losing up to one seat." Full story here: https://www.brennancenter.org/our-wo...er-2020-census.

From my perspective, I'm more concerned with how the Census counts affect me at the state and local level, which I tried to exemplify through my example above....local resource allocation. The number of congressional seats allocated in CA, while not unimportant, is not as high a priority for me, personally.

Flywise, I'm pretty solid on how our system of taxation works. Maybe I should have communicated more clearly, and said "you end up paying more for the services they use." Thanks for the opportunity to clarify, amigo.

I actually want to apologize for my smart *** tone.
But, he is right (as I understand it) the more people counted the more seats an area gets. Not fair to allow a sanctuary area have more representation than a area with the same amount of actual citizens. If they want to spend the fed money allocated to them on non citizens then so be it but they should not get more money just because they have more residents
