Default CDC - Skirting the line of protection

My business contacts in China have been telling me for weeks that it is insane that the CDC was recommending no face masks to its citizens.

Now the CDC comes out with adjusted guidance recommending everyone to wear cloth masks but not "surgical masks or N-95 respirators." The reasoning is surgical masks or N95 respirators and better, but they are needed by healthcare workers - and at this point that is true.

What I am having trouble with is why they didn't recommend this action sooner. Don't tell me "they didn't know" about the possibility of asymptomatic spread because that was reported as a possibility in February and probably sooner.

The delayed decision has and will kill a lot of people.

Good read...

Was with a buddy one morning when every TV in the gym showed us "Surgeon General says masks won't help and to leave them for health care blah blah blah"

Told him then that's oddly fishy and if it'll save them it'd save us. BS meter 10.

That's half the problem in all this. They treat us like idiots and lose our faith in minor issues then expect us to blindly follow when we're in it deep.

Based on how the American people destroyed the toilet paper supply chain, you can only imagine what they would have done to masks if they would have been recommended.

One problem I have is they want us to wash our hands and sterilize them but the gubment has commandeered ALL of the hand sanitizer. It's only available to the medical/emergency services fields. My daughter works for a grocery chain. They have ordered 3 truck loads of hand sanitizer and each order has been confiscated by the feds. We need protection too and making that **** is not the same.

The CDC is full of it.

If everyone wore a N95 and gloves(properly and when in public) this would spread less.

I get why they said what they said but don't trust the government.

It was always a lie but i do believe most of the public dont need them or wouldn't wear them properly or touch there face more then with out.
If the front line runs out of masks more people will die.

This! And Trump instantly has access to 5 million gallons of ethanol by signing an executive order to stop blending it into our gas! Use all the resources available!

The government probably fears mass unrest in the streets if they put N95 masks in the hands of all Americans.

Negative on that, I bought 2 cases last week. I also bought 6 gallons of alcohol to make more if needed.

And no I’m not hoarding, I’m supplying the employees of 2 essential businesses.

To whoever said making it (hand sanitizer) is not the same.....care to explain your logic? I have a lab and some chemists here on site that say it is in fact exactly the same.

100% false and this is what causes people to panic-there is plenty out there you just have to know where to look. We bought 3 gallon jugs of it last Wednesday and they had pallets of it

The nurses that live around me were complaining about the hospital reusing the N95 masks. They are collecting them and heating them to I believe 185 or 158*, I don’t remember to sterilize them.

Do you mean after you've been exposed to a known Chinese Flu patient?

If we're exposed to a known carrier, we trash them. Other than that, we're reusing them for several shifts. We have no means to sterilize them.

Supposedly one time use...one patient & in the trash. For us civi's I'm sure you could use them multiple times depending on where / how much exposure. Not sure it matters as they are not available to the public here.

Edinburg passed some ordinance where you have to be covered when out in public. Haven't heard anything of the like for McAllen yet...it's my understanding Tx is about to have a spike??

We've been told to wear the same one, for multiple days, until it's contaminated. I don't like it but there's a shortage right now.

I read somewhere a couple weeks ago (can't find it now) that ozone kills the stuff?

I've got a few masks, if they are gonna require that we wear them, I wonder if I could box them up with my ozone machine for a while to sanitize them...? I've heard ozone in a confined space isn't good for the body either, but it doesn't leave residue, or does it?

The government and the CDC have been wrong every step of the way so far. Why should I believe them that wearing masks is now so important. When it wasn’t before?

I read a few places that scientists are saying the cloth masks do not prevent the virus at all. If this is true, why is the CDC recommended them, and further more, why are some places requiring that masks be worn? I hate being lied to, and even worse, I hate that I am being lied to about my safety. (I'm not too worried about the CV-19, but in general telling me something will protect me when they know it won't)

We were given five mask and five parep bags . Number the mask and bags. at the end of day one put mask one in bag one. Next day wear mask 2, etc. At the end of day five there should be nothing living on mask one so you would start the process over.
