    Duke's coon trap-escapee

Bought two Duke's to work on the coon population in the back yard. Evidently I caught one over night but by the time I went to check it after work yesterday the sucker chewed his dang hand off and escaped. Tough lil sob !!

Thought about that too, but the game cam didnt show any evidence of that. One pic he was there (****** off) then he was gone.

With DP traps? I've seen it several times too with foot holds that break the bone but never with a DP. That what makes them so effective.

I guess it happens or the pics would have shown otherwise in this case, just surprised to see it's happened "several" times.

save it, that would make a great "back scratcher"

Happens often especially if you leave them in the trap for a few days

Had it happen alot also. Never trap those again. I assume they die

Yep. Although I’ve never left one in the trap longer than half a day or so. The ones I’ve found looked as if they dislocated that joint and then the hide/skin eventually tore at that spot and they escaped. Kinda depends on how much leverage the coon can get after being trapped. My thought anyway...

You can see in that pic, the coon was trapped right on its paw...

Doesn't happen near as much as with regular leg hold traps but every now and then. What's funny is when you catch them again. They won't do it twice.

I've considered doing it to myself a time to two.

No sir. I should clarify. I've seen it several times with foot holds. I don't think I've ever had it happen with my Dukes traps.
