Have one in the family. It's a .300 savage. Haven't ever killed anything with it but maybe I should try to change that.

Yep, I always wanted one, and finally bought one a few years ago. Mine is a Savage 99C - the "C" stands for clip (yes, I know it's actually a magazine, but I didn't name the piece). It's my favorite deer rifle, and from the bench, will shoot 3-shot dime sized groups with 150 gr. Remington Core Lokt ammo. I think mine is from the late 1960s, and I had to replace the recoil pad as the original was hard as a rock. People on other forums said I was an idiot for buying a "C" model, but that was actually exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, I cannot add photos of it here.

Regards,

Dave

PS - I was able to add a different photo showing me and my Savage 99C and first feral hog kill.

Regards,

Dave

I have one, Model 99 300 Savage, that is my most prized possession. My pappaw bought it in 1962 and hunted with it until 1987. He gave it to me before he passed away. I ear-holed a big hog with it this last season.

That was the first high-powered rifle that I owned - a .243. My Dad bought my brother and I them as payment for a winters worth of logging work. He ordered them thru a friend and they showed up as consecutively serial numbered guns! I was 12 and my brother 14. We both still have them. By the time I was 25 I had fired several thousand rounds thru it. Accuracy suffered so I put it away. I should dig it out and try to tune it back up.
In eastern Montana I killed a whitetail doe at 443 yards across a plowed field. So, it was a shooter! And yes, I have witnesses.

Ive got my great grandpas model 99 in 300 savage. Ive killed with it before, but its been awhile. I dont take it out often. O e thing I need to do is get the magazine worked on as it still works but not the best. I just use it as a single shot when I do take it out. Great gun and fun to shoot.

I just inherited our families model 99 in 300 savage. It was my grandfathers rifle. I killed my first deer with it and my sister learned to shoot with it and killed her first deer with it. I just hung the antlers of the last deer my dad killed. It was with the same 300 savage and that gun is in my safe now.

I purchased a .243 awhile back but have a question. Once you have chamber a round in it and cocked it, how do you uncock it without dry firing it?
