No Protections for Hybrids
I'm in the no protection camp. If/when more testing (assuming it's not stifled) reveals that there is not distinct DNA in "red wolves" separate from coyote or gray wolf, then red wolves can hold on all they want through the same interbreeding that brought them about in the first place.
Feral dogs are not domesticated. So by your definition of, "wildlife" coy-dogs might warrant protections. Or maybe wolf-dog hybrids. Whitetail/Mule Deer Hybrids as well. Think about that for a minute. Can of worms for sure.

What conservationists are concerned about though is rapid, man made extinction (habitat loss, over harvest, etc.). However, eventual extinction seems to be inevitable.

They say that three percent of people
Use five to six percent of their brain
Ninety-seven percent use just three percent
And the rest goes down the drain
I'll never know which one I am
But I'll bet you my last dime
Ninety-nine percent think we're three percent
One-hundred percent of the time
[Verse 2]
They say sixty-five percent of all statistics
Are made up right there on the spot
Eighty-two-point-four percent of people believe 'em
Whether they're accurate statistics or not
I don't know what you believe
But I do know there's no doubt
I need another double-shot of something ninety-proof
I got too much to think about
