    Tractor transmission types

For those with tractors on your property or lease, what tractor transmission type do you prefer? Hydro, shuttle, gear? I'm looking at used tractors in the 30-40hp range and most seem to be gear or shuttle, with just a few hydros up for sale. I'll mostly be discing and mowing, but expect some bucket/loader work here or there. Is it worth saving for a hydro or for most purposes is gear or shuttle just fine? Is any type more reliable than the other?

IMO, bucket loader work. Hydro or shuttle all the way. Hard pulling work all day, I would have a geared tractor. It's what I have now. Average every so often use, nothing wrong with hydro or shuttle.

If you have trees or tight spaces to work in go with hydro and avoid clutch knee the next morning
