Y’all this buck was special to me. I’ve hunted around this area since I was 5 and over the years, we have gone a lot of years where we sit multiple times throughout the year and see a handful of deer all season. In 2019, I spent more time putting work into the properties, sat more times and for longer than I ever have, passed on more bucks than I ever have, and it totally paid off. This buck came out on a bee line, saw or smelled something he didn’t like, and turned to leave. I got him to stop, and let the arrow fly at 33 yards. The ole Grim reaper broadhead did it’s job, and he piled up about 40 yards from the shot. I saw him drop, but waited a bit before easing out and grabbing my Lacy dog named Layla to share the moment with me and to put her on the blood trail for practice.
