Default $53K fine levied for the 278" Texas buck

http://thehuntingnews.com/poaching-2..._HAhF2e4T-QHek

Link to the article saying they settled on 2 yrs probation and $53K in restitution.

Isn’t that the guy that nobody thought he could have poached it because he was so upstanding?

If that’s the case, where did this “he’s been doing it for years” stuff come from all of a sudden?

Ironically, they're probably quite a few folks that would pay 53k to shoot that deer. Lol

Deferred adjudication? So he keeps his nose clean for 2 years and then no record? Can't buy a hunting license during the 2 years? Yep, $53k is a hit, but if I was the judge, probably would have gotten a "no hunting" lifetime sentence too, especially if he is a repeat offender.

By the company that some of the “great hunters” that were on here defending him keep, they are probably doing about the same kind of hunting as he was.

You may consider putting the broad brush down that you are painting with concerning those that initially came to his defense.

A man is certainly known according to those in which he keeps company. That said, folks can surprise you with the decisions that they make. I met Travis a few times and had dinner with him and a few other TBHrs at the Mexican place in Whitesboro the night before a hunt at the H. Seemed like a nice guy. I’m not defending him or his actions. People can surprise you.

I think it's pretty unfair to say that because he's a poacher, his buddies must be as well. I bet some of those that defended him early, wish they had not. But, that's what friends do. That's the kind of friends I want and the kind of friend I aim to be. I think they were probably the most surprised when the truth came out and he put those faithful buddies in a crappy situation by not being what his friends thought he was. World's full of *******s like that.
