Galvez is nice, but the San Luis Resort isn't a slouch either.

For me, I'd go San Luis as it's a Landry's place, so it's kind of like a Golden Nugget in certain respects, without the Casino obviously.

If you prefer Strand District area, Tremont House is pretty nice as well.

Hotel Galvez is an old hotel. The rooms are smaller, but the decor and rooms are very nice.

San Louis is a "newer" hotel that is very nice as well.

Not beach, but Tremont House on the strand is swanky as well.

Tremont is a cool old place and its near Black Pearl Oyster Bar. BPOB is some mighty fine eats.

I've stayed at at San Luis and have visited friends that were staying at Galvez.

But anymore, we take a right and go to Jamaica Beach, and rent a house.

This is the pro move. We do the same. Jamaica beach or just across the bridge at San Luis Pass. We like to rent a place on a canal.

I prefer the Moody Gardens Hotel. But I would agree with the others to rent a beach house on the west end. We like Pointe San Luis, just before the San Luis Pass. You cannot drive in the beach in this area, which makes it great for the kids and keeps the large crowd down. Plus it’s way to far for most weekenders to drive.
