    Another monster redfish

I didn't want to hijack the other redfish thread.
But I caught a toad and wanted to share.

    Port O'Connor
Pelicans crashing in, several boats around, but no one hooking up. We grab our trout rods with our 1/16 oz. lead head jigs with a soft plastic tail and pitched in. My boss and I immediately hooked up. 30 minutes later.

My boss caught a giant jack crevelle.

All were caught on a med light rod and all were released. We did this for 1.5 hours. Pull up, hook up, fight fish, release and do it again.
We never saw another boat catch a fish.

Our best guess is 60" and a minimum of 50lbs.

Hope you took a bunch of pics. That thing is a freaking toad. Would make a good replica.

Figures, she was so worn out, we just wanted to make sure she swam away, so we quickly got her back in the water.

Oh well, I'll have the memory forever.

What I was thinking. Looks to be in the 40s. Regardless, awesome fish! Bet he took you on a sleigh ride on light tackle

No sir, not by the jetties, near the hump.
She straightened the hook on the jig.
40's? Maybe, we didn't have a scale. I can hold a 50lbs sack of corn up fairly easy, but she was a struggle. Maybe my arms were worn out. I know she was my best, I was glad to catch her and the fight was awesome.

Nice red!!! Those jack's are a blast to catch on light tackle. We had 3 of us in a boat in Venice last year and all of us had a turn hooking into one. We had 5 hook up's and landed 2. According to our guide you'll land 10%-15% on light tackle because they straighten out hooks or pull off.

that's a bigun! lots of fisherman ignore those simple signs of fish activity.

Personal best?! That makes it even sweeter. You'll have a hard time catching a bigger one!
