Default Artificial Water Source in East Texas

Has anyone in East TX setup an artificial water source on their property/lease? In my area my deer have bedding and food. But there is no close water sources to my knowledge. The one I do know of they would have to go halfway across our lease. I am about to go fill feeders and cleanup everything for the summer and have kicked around trying to do something about water. I want the deer I have to stay put as much as possible. I was thinking about getting some plastic barrels cutting them in half and filling them with water. Obvious concerns are pigs tearing them up and spooking deer. So any info would be awesome before I spend money and effort for a wasted cause.

Do a search on here. Several of us have set up water stations using 275 gallon totes.
