Default My first rattle can paint jobs.

I wanted to fancy up my Tikka 260 a little bit from its plain black look. I thought I would start out with an older beat up Marlin .17 just in case I goofed it up. I thought they turned out pretty good.

I painted the whole thing in tan.

Then I cut out some shapes on a thin piece of cardboard. You can kinda see it under the matt. Then I sprayed the green shapes on, not many because I didn't want much green.

Don't laugh here. I bought a $1 mat at Dollar General that rolls out on shelves in your kitchen cabinets. I laid it out flat on the stock and made light and heavy passes with both brown and dark camo green paint. Then I let it dry. Moved the mat around to give it shapes. Repeated the brown and green paint. Let dry.

I thought it was too dark at this point. I laid the matt on it again and went over it with light coats of the base tan coat to lighten it up like I wanted it.

3 coats of clear coat and it was done.

Taping and drying took the longest time for sure. I would buy a couple of the mats so they can dry too.

Thanks, mexico70.

No sanding. You can if you want to. Just flat Rustoleum and acrylic clear coat from Lowes.
