Starting a platform build this weekend, a little close to season but oh well. It will be for a rifle stand for this year. Will update with pics

I will be starting my build today, but will be using horse mat from TSC. 1/2" rubber deadens sound a bit and doesn't get sour when left wet. Granted I will only be going 4' up.

I built one out of steel a few years back.
6'x6' platform 7' removable and adjustable legs.
Has an expanded metal floor and I use 5/8" stall mat on top of that with office chairs. Have hunted two large men with no problems. When it gets cold I just light the little buddy heater. I have moved this set up by myself when necessary.
First year I secured it with fencing wire through the floor to the anchors inside the blind. The last few years I just used large zip ties.

Thought I’d try and get this discussion going again. Just got one of my cattle panel blinds off the ground. Still need some paint and carpet inside to finish it off. 8x8 platform with 8’ legs.

Put some camo netting around the bottom and can hunt from down there too or have someone with a camera down there.

I like to be closer to the ground so mine is only 1' off the ground.

Worked out great for the first year.

This is how I built the base for my box blind last year and I was thinking this would be perfect for a popup.

What do you guys use in the stake loops on the blind? I was thinking some sort of bolt with a washer over the loop? I will be doing the eye bolt for he tie downs, but I'm not sure that is enough to keep it in place.

We always used a 2x2 laid it on the flaps and then screwed it to the platform...

Yep that's what I do. I also use a screw with washer & screw down the corner loops to the platform on the inside of the blind.

Whatever you do, make sure you also use the tie-downs for the outside hubs. I learned this the hard way in the panhandle winds.

They definitely have them at Academy, but I don't know what "an arm and a leg for them" is. They're like $75 for a set of 4 at Academy.

For my next build, I am going to use straight legs. I don't feel a need for the elevators at 5 ft

Yeah you really don't. Just put the 4 X 4 post on the inside where it corners & run some long screws from the outside & run some braces between the legs on all sides. Mine our very sturdy.

Great thread. My dad and I put one up today. 6.5x8’ platform using the brackets. They make it quick and easy. Rock solid after adding the braces.

What a great thread. I might have to take on a project like this, I have some old telephone poles laying around that I can use for my legs. Kill two birds with one stone, gets my blind off the ground and less junk laying around the yard which will keep the wife off my butt.

Default Gone mine done this year too!

Indeed a 6x8x8 foot platform built from treated lumber is very heavy! Too much for one man without mechanical advantage. Creative use of ATV winch and it all came together!

I picked up a Redneck Blinds softside a few years back. Been on the ground last two seasons, and finally got it elevated this year.

https://redneckblinds.com/collection...x6-ghillie-360

Mines not the ghillie cover but camo canvas.

Elevator corners are from E-Z Tower; http://www.e-ztower.com/ picked up from Deerview outside Mansfield (southern DFW metro). They are built heavy duty and highly recommended.

It would be easy to attach skids to the bottom of the legs where you could drag it behind an ATV or truck making it easy to move around.

I built the platform piece tonight. Going to have to wait to put the legs on until I'm at my land because the dang thing already weighs like 150-175 lbs and I wouldn't be able to lift it into my truck.

Also have a Double Bull en route. Total cost: $370 including platform. Not bad.

I always build my platform piece with the discounted wood from home Depot. I just have to be patient and get a little at a time. I can usually build just the base for around $35.(not including plywood) It's not always perfectly square but that's okay. It's not like I'm building a house. Works for me.
